The Remodeling Process
The decision to remodel one’s home starts with a need or a desire. We recommend bringing us in before the design process with the architect or designer. By working together with you and the architect, we can help you get a design that works within your budget instead of coming in after the fact and having to give you the bad news.
1. Initial Interview
At the initial meeting we listen to your vision, ideas, needs, wants, and desires. We listen to gain a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish. With this understanding we can work with you to design your remodel to fit your specific needs and accomplish your goals. It is important to have a budget in mind prior to proceeding with the design of your project. Your budget should be discussed at the initial meeting to make sure your expectations are in line with your budget constraints.
2. Budget and Estimates
It is difficult to give an accurate preliminary estimate for remodels because each project is custom. The finishes you select and the demolition of your existing structure are among the variables that make each remodel unique. We try to compare your project to other projects we have done to give you a budget range. Establishing a budget helps us in the design process, which is the next step.
We meet with the architect at your home. At the meeting we relay your information so the architect can get started on the preliminary plans. After they have a chance to review your project, we will present you with a Design Agreement that will outline the costs associated with the blueprints. At this point, you can decide whether to proceed to have the plans drawn up or not.
